Barbara Keady

Artist and author Barbara Keady (1959-2017) grew up in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Barbara spent her childhood with her parents and five siblings exploring the spectacular vistas of Northern New Mexico. After high school, Barbara moved to Albuquerque NM where she discovered her passion for teaching and serving others. Barbara spent her free time drawing, writing, and photographing New Mexico’s beautiful landscape. After raising two children of her own, Barbara happily became “Grandma Barb” to her grandchildren Merriah, Mahli, and Zack. She adored her grandchildren and the kids she taught and helped over the years, who also affectionately called her Grandma Barb as well. She radiated love and joy. Always smiling, she was a wonderful listener and was always willing to go out of her way to help anyone. Barbara, who is the author of the first book in the series, Curly Crow Goes to the River, knew the importance of books and the power of reading. She often said, children who do well in school are often avid readers, as reading is the foundation of learning.
